Governance Across Borders: Coordination, Regulation, and Contestation in the Global Economy The Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), which is headquartered at the Center for the Sociology of Organizations, held its 22nd Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, USA, from June 24th to 26th. ![]() Approximately 400 scholars working in a broad range of fields, from sociology and economics to political science and the law, came together for three days to discuss this year’s theme, "Governance Across Borders: Coordination, Regulation, and Contestation in the Global Economy." This highly pertinent topic was examined in some 150 different events, organized by SASE’s research networks and by this year’s program committee. The conference included plenary sessions with Eric Helleiner, Richard Higgott, Donald MacKenzie, and Saskia Sassen, as well as a keynote address by SASE’s president, Jonathan Zeitlin. Special panels covered a wide range of topics from sustainability to global governance to transnational elites. This year’s conference was hosted by the Fox School of Business and the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at Temple University, located in the historic city of Philadelphia, the cradle of American democracy. The conference was organized by Richard Deeg, Glenn Morgan, Marc Schnieberg, and Jonathan Zeitlin. ![]() ![]() ![]() SASE extends its continuing gratitude to the CSO, Sciences Po, and the CNRS for hosting its headquarters. ![]() SASE invites you to participate in next year’s conference, to be held at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, June 23-25, 2011. The 2011 theme will be "Transformations of Contemporary Capitalism: Actors, Institutions, Processes" and the conference will be held in conjunction with the Council for European Studies’ annual conference, which will take place in Barcelona.
